Historical Context
The Brockport & Shawmut Railroad Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania on July 31, 1886. It was a single-track branch line connecting the two towns and covering 2.424 miles.
The line was operated by the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad Company and its receivers from the date it was completed, about 1890, until December 1, 1895. From the latter date to December 31, 1917, it was operated by the Erie.
