Historical Context
This Bradford Self-Closing Telegraph Key Company was incorporated in Clinton, Maine in November 1898.
The company's advertising said the key "operated the same as an ordinary key, with these advantages: the key is always closed when not in use; the line is always in working order; simply taking hold of the button opens the key, and letting go of it, closes the circuit."
The company offered its product at a reduced introductory price ($2.50) originally, but it appears the company never succeeded.
