    Historical Context

    The Beech Creek Coal and Coke Company was organized under the laws of the State of Pennsylvania in June of 1901.

    The company's properties were comprised of about 26,000 acres of coal lands in fee, 3,000 acres under lease, and about 21 mines in operation.

    The company was acquired by the Pennsylvania Coal and Coke Company in 1906.
