Product Details
Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Automatic Railway Signal Company dating back to the 1890's. This document, which has been signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by the Iowa Printing Co. of Des Moines and measures approximately 10 1/2" (w) by 7 1/4" (h).
The unique vignette features a train stopped on the tracks before a collapsed bridge - saved by the company's device.

Historical Context
The Automatic Railway Signal Company was incorporated in Iowa in 1890, and was based in Des Moines.
The company, which tried to develop a railway safety signal device, was located at 214 West 5th Street.
There is no evidence that the company ever reached the production phase, and the last time it was listed in the Des Moines city register was 1911.
