    Historical Context

The Augustine Automatic Rotary Engine Company was incorporated in New York in 1909 and was based in Buffalo.

Benjamin F. Augustine invented and patented a revolutionary new engine around the time the company was incorporated. The engine was designed for both steam and gas use, and designed mostly for tractors, boats and automobiles.

In 1922, the Champion Rotary Motors Co., Inc. was incorporated in New York to acquire the rights to build and distribute the rotary engine Augustine had designed.
