Atlantic Department Stores, Inc. was incorporated in New York in 1970 to acquire the Arlen Realty and Development Corporation's Spartan Department Store division (which also included Korvettes). At it's peak, the company operated over 90 discount department stores in 26 states and also had an import/export division.
The company was re-acquired by Arlan, which proceeded to shut down the Atlantic Department Stores division in 1975.
