Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the famous American Express Company dating back to the 1960's. This document, which contains the printed signatures of a company President or Chairman of the Board and Secretary, was printed by the American Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).

American Express was formed in the mid 19th century by Henry Wells, William G. Fargo and John Butterfield through combination of Wells and Company; Livingston, Fargo and Company; and Butterfield, Wasson and Company. In 1868 Amex merged with the Merchants Union Express Company to become American Merchants Union Express Company. In 1873 the company name was changed back to American Express.
