Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Alaska Gold Mines Company dating back to the 1910's. This document, which is signed by the company Vice President and Assistant Secretary, was printed by the Republic Bank Note Company and measures approximately 11 3/4" (w) by 8" (h).

The Alaska Gold Mines Company was organized in 1912 to control the Alaska Gastineau Mining Company, which began operations a year earlier.
The company's mining properties (Alaska Perseverance, Ground Hog, Silver Bow Basin, Sheep Creek) were lcoated in the Juneau Gold Belt on the Gold Creek Lode. The Alaska Gold Mines Company also had water rights for power development on Salmon Creek (the company owned several hydroelectric power plants that supplied power to Juneau,) and a mill site on the shores of Gastineau Channel.
Operations closed in 1921.
