Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the 13th & 15th Streets Passenger Railway Company of Philadelphia dating back to the 1930's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Treasurer, was printed by the American Bank Note Company and measures approximately 10 1/8" (w) by 7" (h).
This piece has two intricate vignettes. At the top, the Pennsylvania State Seal is flanked by a columned building and a train crossing a bridge. At the bottom, a small girl looks left.
The 13th & 15th Streets Passenger Railway Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1859 to build and construct tracks north and south from Columbia Avenue and Carpenter Street, respectively, upon Thirteenth and Fifteenth Streets.
The line was leased to the Philadelphia Traction Company in 1892.
