Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Peoples Light and Power Corporation dating back to the 1930's. This document, which contains the printed signatures of the company Vice President and Secretary, was printed by the Hamilton Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 11 1/4" (w) by 8 1/4" (h).
This certificate's vignette features male and female figures flanking the company inititals. Behind them are a train, ship and factories.

Historical Context
The Peoples Light and Power Cororation was one of the many utility holding companies that dominated the industry during the early 1900's. The company was incorporated in Delaware, but was based in New York.
The company went into receivership in 1931 and was reorganized as the Peoples Light and Power Company.
The company's subsidiaries served parts of California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Minnesota, Wyoming, Texas and Wisconsin.
In 1946, the Peoples Light and Power Company became the Texas Public Service Company of Delaware.
