Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Austin Silver Mining Company dating back to the 1930's. This document, which carries the printed signatures of the company President and Secretary, was printed by the Hamilton Bank Note Company and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).
The vignette on this piece features a miner working a hydraulic drill.

Historical Context
The properties controlled by the Austin Silver Mining Company embraced most of the developed part of the Austin, Nevada area and included claims in the Yankee Blade and Midas Flat areas. This company also has interests in the Amador and other nearby districts.
The properties includes about 89 patented claims near Austin, five in the Yankee Blade area, and two on Midas Flat. There were 3 mill sites near Austin with a flotation mill on one site in Pony Canyon a short distance below the town.
There were also more than 60 unpatented claims, most of which were formerly worked by the Austin-Dakota Development Company.
