Historical Context
The New York and Atlantic Railroad Company was incorporated on August 23, 1880. The company's route (about two miles) commenced at or near the corner of 32nd Street and Ninth Avenue, Brooklyn, at the terminus of the New York, Greenwood and Coney Island Railroad; and thence by the most direct and feasible route following the general direction of 37th Street or the continuation thereof to or near Tunisons on Coney Island Avenue.
The company was reoganized in 1887 as the West Brooklyn Railroad Company.
