Historical Context
The Anderson Belt Railway was organized on July 23, 1891, and incorporated on July 29, 1891, under the general laws of Indiana, for the purpose of constructing a railroad extending from a crossing of the Panhandle and the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway Company, east of Anderson, to a point where the Panhandle crosses the White River, about 7 miles. Its principal office is located in the city of Anderson. The property of the Anderson Belt Railway has been operated by the Panhandle from the time it was opened for operation to date of valuation.
