Historical Context
Lewron Television, Inc. was incorporated in Maryland in 1966.
The company owned, operated and leased equipment for the production of television shows, and used mobile production units to broadcast live sports and produce on-site entertainment programming.
The company moved from Baltimore to New York City in 1969 and opened a studio in a former Consolidated Edison plant on a deserted stretch of 53rd Street between Ninth and 10th Avenues, squarely in Hell's Kitchen. The studio served as a sound stage for the popular television game show, Let's Make a Deal with Monty Hall, which was Lewron's most famous association.
After the demise of Lewron, the space was converted into the famous Power Station recording studio.
