Historical Context
The Miller Printing Machinery Company started operation in 1903 in Allegheny City, which today is known as the Pittsburgh Northside neighborhood.
It manufactured five different automatic cylinder letterpresses beginning in 1926, and also built cutter and creaser machines, lithographic printing machines, and the Miller Saw Trimmer. The company acquired the Printing Machinery Division of the Electric Boat Company in the 1950s.
The company also offered Miller Pressmens Training School at their Pittsburgh factory, which allowed pressmen from companies purchasing Miller machines to work on the machines before they were shipped to their new locations.
