Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Kirby Furnace Smelting and Refining Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by Goes and measures approximately 11 1/4" (w) by 8 1/4" (h).
This certificate's vignette features a trio of mining vignettes.

Historical Context
The Kirby Furnace Smelting and Refining Company was incorporated in South Dakota in 1904 and was based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The company's product (per their own claim) operated as follows:
"In furnaces of the type described, the combination of a fire-box, an ore-smelting hearth, a collecting-basin, a flue extending in the rear of and beneath said basin and in such juxtaposition thereto, that the products of combustion passing through said flue will communicate their heat to said basin."
