Historical Context
This line was organized in 1889 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and ran under the Greensburg & Hempfield Street Railway name until 1901. In 1901, it became the Pittsburgh McKeesport & Greensburg Railway Company, before becoming the West Penn Railways Company in 1907.
Streetcar use was discontinued in 1952, when the company became the City Rapid Transit Lines, Inc. In 1962, the company was renamed the Greensburg City Lines.
