Historical Context
In 1904, the first segment of the Philadelphia & Garrettford Street Railway Company opened. The Philadelphia & Garrettford Street Railway Company included lines to Sharon Hill and Media, and was one of the numerous Philadelphia trolley companies around the turn of the century.
In 1906 the line was leased to the Philadelphia & West Chester Traction Company. The Sharon Hill and Media lines are the only ones which continue to survive as electric railways.
