Historical Context
The Kentucky Central Railway Company was incorporated in Kentucky in 1887 as a reorganization of the Kentucky Central Rail Road Company, which had fallen into receivership. The original line was organized in 1856 as a consolidation of the Covington & Lexington Railroad and the Lexington & Danville Railroad.
Shortly thereafter, the line was purchased by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad.
The line served numerous towns including Covington, Richmond, Paris, Maysville, Cynthiana and Lexington.
