Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the IXL Oil and Refining Co. dating back to the 1910's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by Goes and measures approximately 11" (w) by 8 1/4" (h).
This certificate features a trio of vignettes - an oil field at the top and dueling oil wells in the side borders.
The IXL Oil and Refining Co. was incorporated in Colorado.
The company company owned or leased properties in Colorado, Louisiana, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas - however there is no evidence the company actually produced any oil.
The June 1918 edition of Municipal Facts indicated that the company appeared to be a "stock selling scheme," with a large portion of the company's shares turned over to promoters.
