Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Canandaigua and Niagara Falls Road Company dating back to the 1850's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by Arthur & Burnet and measures approximately 10 3/4" (w) by 7 1/2" (h).
This piece features a pair of vignettes - a lighthouse perched at the top of Niagara Falls at the top and a train crossing the Niagara Falls Extension Bridge at the bottom.

Historical Context
The Canandaigua and Niagara Falls Railroad was incorporated in New York in 1851 and opened to Tonawanda in 1853.
In 1854 the line built a connection from the Niagara Falls end of the Buffalo and Niagara Falls to the Niagara Falls Suspension Bridge into Canada.
The New York Central bought the Canandaigua and Niagara Falls in 1858.
