Historical Context
The Staten Island Midland Railroad operated five lines in central Staten Island, New York. Four of the lines terminated at the St. George Ferry Terminal, the fifth at Livingston.
The Midland Beach Line ran along Midland Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, Richmond Road, Van Duzer Street, Broad Street, Canal Street, Wright Street, Victory Boulevard, and Bay Street The line was eventually abandoned and operated as the S72 bus until around 1990.
The Concord Line ran along Richmond Terrace, Jewett Avenue, Victory Boulevard, Clove Road, Richmond Road, Van Duzer Street, Broad Street, Canal Street, Wright Street, Montgomery Street, Hyatt Street, and Bay Street. The line was abandoned on October 16, 1927 and is now the S53, S66, and S74 bus lines.
The Manor Road Line ran along Manor Road, Delafield Avenue, Clove Road, Castleton Avenue, and Broadway. It was abandoned on August 21, 1927 and is now the S54 bus.
The Richmond Line ran along Richmond Road, Van Duzer Street, Broad Street, Canal Street, Wright Street, Victory Boulevard, and Bay Street. It was abandoned on October 16, 1927 and is now the S74 bus line.
The Silver Lake Line ran along Richmond Terrace, Jewett Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Bay Street. It was abandoned on January 26, 1934 taken over by the Richmond Light and Railroad Company as route 7 in 1927. Today, it is the S62 and S66 buses.
