Historical Context
The Pay-As-You-Enter Car Corporation was incorporated in Delaware on May 25, 1910, as a successor to the Pay-As-You-Enter-Car Company of New Jersey.
The company was formed for the purpose of exploiting patents relating to fare collections on street cars.
In March 1911, the Pay-As-You-Enter Car Corporation merged with the Pay-Within Car Company and the National Pneumatic Company of Chicago resulting in formation of the Prepayment Car Sales Company, located at 50 Church Street, New York City.
