Product Details
Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Somora Railway Company Limited dating back to the 1880's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Treasurer, was printed by the American Bank Note Company and measures approximately 10 3/4" (w) by 7 1/2" (h).
The vignette features the locomotive and tender "Progress" passing a pair of boys. The side borders feature the symbols of Mexico (an eagle with a snake) and the United States (an eagle.)

Historical Context
The Sonora Railway was constructed by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway between 1879 and 1882. It ran from Guaymas, on the west coast of the Mexican state of Sonora, northward to Nogales at the United States / Mexican border. From there it connected with the New Mexico and Arizona Railroad, which ran to Benson, Arizona, and then over the Southern Pacific to the tracks of the Santa Fe at Deming, New Mexico.
In 1898 the Santa Fe leased the Sonora Railway to the Southern Pacific in return for the latter railroad's line from Needles to Mojave, California. This arrangement continued until December 1911, when the Southern Pacific purchased both the Sonora Railway and the New Mexico and Arizona.
The following June, the Sonora Railway became part of the Southern Pacific Railroad in Mexico.

We ship all orders via the United States Postal Service. Most domestic orders are shipped via Ground Advantage. USPS International, Priority and Express Mail, UPS and DHL services are also available, and costs are calculated during checkout. Current charges may be reviewed here.
Can I return my purchase?
Absolutely. You may return any merchandise, for any reason, within 30 days of the purchase date for a full refund of the purchase price.
We guarantee all of our pieces to be authentic. If you ever determine that a piece is not authentic, it may be returned for a full refund of the purchase price as well as any associated shipping charges.

We ship the majority of orders via the USPS, with domestic orders using the Ground Advantage service.
Shipping is calculated during checkout. Upgraded services such as Priority and Express Mail, as well as UPS and DHL options, are also available.
