Historical Context
The Sioux City and Western Railway Company was incorporated in Nebraska in 1891. However, work did not start until 1905, when work on a 103 mile route connecting a mainline at Asland, Nebraska commenced northwards to Sioux City. The line was completed the following year.
In 1908, the line became part of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.
