Historical Context
This line originally dates back to the mid 19th century when the Tennessee & Alabama Central Rail Road, the Central Southern Railroad and the Tennessee & Alabama Rail Road were consolidated to form the Nashville and Decatur Railroad.
At its peak, the company operated over 130 miles of track, and was eventually taken over by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company in 1871.
