Historical Context
National Playhouses, Inc. was incorporated in Illinois in 1925 and operated a regional chain of movie theaters.
Most of the company's theaters were in Chicago, with the three most recognizable being the Avalon, Capital and Stratford.
The company went into receivership in 1929 and appears to have fallen victim to the stock market crash and great depression that followed.
