Historical Context
The Nodaway Valley Railroad was organized on August 30, 1871, and ran from Bigelow, Missouri, in Holt County, to Burlington Junction - a distance of just over 31 miles.
It was leased to the Kansas City, St. Joseph and Council Bluffs Company on May 18, 1880, and sold by the latter to the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad Company in 1881.
