Historical Context
The First National Bank was organized under the National Banking Act of Congress of 1863. The bank was based in Newburyport, Essex County, Massachusetts. The company's first President was Charles H. Coffin. In 1921, the bank was absorbed by the First & Ocean National Bank of Newburyport. Newburyport is a suburb of Boston, located northeast of the city, and just south of the New Hampshire border. |
