Product Details
Beautifully engraved antique bond certificate from the Casco Bay & Harpswell Lines dating back to the early to the early 1900's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Treasurer, was printed by Lakeside Printing Company, and measures approximately 9 1/2" (w) by 15" (h).
This certificate features a great vignette of a paddlewheel steamer on open waters, and an anchor.
Very rare piece. A full page of coupons remains attached at the right side margin.

Historical Context
The Casco Bay & Harpswell Lines were incorporated in Maine in 1907. The company was based in Portland and operated a fleet of steamboats that connected Portland with neighboring Atlantic islands as well as other shore line towns.
Some of the line's stops included Peak's Island, Little Diamond Island, Great Diamond Island, Cliff Island, Long Island, Littlejohns Island, Cousins Island, Birch Island, South Harpswell, Harpswell Center and South Freeport.
The lines connected with the Grand Truck Railway, the Boston & Maine Railroad and the Maine Central Railroad in Portland.
