Historical Context
| The Herold Radio & Electronics Corporation was incorporated in New York as the Herold Radio & Television Manufacturing Corporation and produced radio, television, and radio transmitting equipment for the United States Army. The company was persistently crippled by debt and reorganized as the Herold Radio & Electronics Corporation in 1955. Though the company later got into consumer electronics - producing phonographs under the Steelman name and radios under the Roland label - the company declared bankruptcy in 1961. |
