Beautifully engraved antique bond certificate from the Burlington Electric Railway Company dating back to the 1890's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by the American Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 9 1/2" (w) by 13 1/2" (h).
This certificate features a pair of vignettes - a trolley at the top, and the Iowa State Seal at the bottom.
This crisp bond also has over 30 coupons attached at the right side margin.

Historical Context
The Burlington Electric Railway Company was incorporated in Iowa on June 13, 1891.
The company was a consolidation of four smaller Burlington horse railroads, and operated about 12 miles of track in the area.
