Historical Context
The Boston and Worcester Rail-Road Corporation was charted in 1831 to develop a line from Boston to Worcester (which at that time was planned to be a quaint little fishing village destination for the masses). The line opened in 1835, and subsequently built a number of local branches from its main line to local towns.
The company merged with the Western Railroad in 1867 to form the Boston and Albany Railroad.
