Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Washington Street Railway Company dating back to the 1890's. This document, which has been signed by the company President and Secretary, measures approximately 10" (w) by 8" (h).
The vignette features an eagle atop a globe and a shield. There is a green underprint of a bust of gentlemen below the eagle.

Historical Context
The Washington Street Railway was incorporated in Indiana in 1896 to build an electric trolley system in the town of Washington.
Washington is located in the southwest portion of the state near the Illinois state line.
