Historical Context
The roots of this line go back to the Evansville, Worthington & Terre Haute Railroad, which later became the Evansville & Terre Haute Railroad. The line became part of the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad in the 1880's.
In 1920, the Evansville & Terre Haute went into foreclosure and was re-organized as the Evansville, Indianapolis & Terre Haute Railway - which operated as the Evansville division of the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway.
The line, which later became part of the New York Central Railroad, ran from Terre Haute, Indiana, to Straight Line Junction, Indiana
