Historical Context
The Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago Railroad was incorporated in 1878 and was controlled by the Chicago and Alton Railroad Company. The company was organized to build the Missouri extension from Mexico, Missouri, to Kansas City.
The road opened on the May 1, 1879.
In 1949, the line was taken over by the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad.
