Historical Context
The Utah-Idaho Central Railroad Company grew from two local railway systems organized by David Eccles. The Ogden Rapid Transit Company (1900) and the Logan Rapid Transit Company (1909) merged in May 1914 to create the Ogden, Logan & Idaho Railway Company.
The main line extended from Ogden, Utah to Preston, Idaho and its major business focus was to profit from passenger (rather than freight) transit. The Company was officially incorporated with the name “Utah-Idaho Central Railroad” in 1918.
The Utah-Idaho Central operated until February 28, 1947, when the rail line was abandoned and scrapped.
