Historical Context
The Dickson Car-Wheel Company was incorporated in Texas, and was based in Houston.
The company manufactured double plate and spoke cast iron railroad car wheels.
The company's original foundry was on Steam Mill Street in the Fifth Ward. It was relocated to a site on the west side of the tracks of the Galveston Harrisburg & San Antonio Railroad just north of the Butler Brick Works. In these expanded facilities, the company produced over 400 railroad car wheels per day in 1913.
Dickson was later acquired by the Pullman Car Company.
