Historical Context
This company was originally founded in 1885 as Francis Batchelder & Co and was originally incorporated under the tax friendly laws of South Dakota. In 1906, the company was reorganized as a Maine entity - the Batchelder & Snyder Company.
On December 23, 1919, the company was incorporated as a Massachusetts company. In 1930, the company merged with the Arthur E. Dorr Company and the William A. Doe Company to become the Batchelder, Snyder, Dorr & Doe Company.
The company was one of the many Boston meat & poultry packers - serving primarily hotels and restaurants. However, they did also direct to consumers via their storefront pictured on this piece.
The company eventually was controlled by General Foods.
