Historical Context
URT Industries owned the majority of shares of Peaches Entertainment Corporation – known in the southeastern United States for the Peaches Record Stores. Peaches stores were known for their distinct, wood paneled interiors (like a peach crate). The stores carried a wide selection of prerecorded music as well as recorded and blank video tapes, accessory items and specialty items such as T-shirts and crates.
The company filed for bankruptcy in the mid 1990’s. Their Ft. Lauderdale, Florida store was known for its own personal walk of fame. There, cement casts of artist’s hand and foot prints adorned the sidewalk - - including Peter Frampton, Kansas, and the Righteous Brothers.
