The Mobile and Montgomery Railroad was incorporated in Alabama in 1868 as a consolidation of the Mobile & Great Northern Railroad and the Alabama & Florida Railroad.
The company became the Mobile and Montgomery Railway in 1874 and became part of the Louisville & Nashville system in 1900.
The line connected Mobile and Montgomery with Pensacola, Florida.
