Historical Context
The Pawling Savings Bank was chartered & incorporated in 1870, and was opened for deposits in 1871. The New York bank's first President was David R. Gould, who figured prominently in its organization, and died in February of 1873. The bank was acquired numerous times over its lifetime, including becoming a subsidiary of Progressive, and then merging with the First National Bank of the Hudson Valley to form the Premier National Bank. The company's initial Pawling branch closed in 2006. |
