Historical Context
The Boring Tractor Corporation was incorporated in Illinois in 1919 and was based in Rockford.
The company was the brainchild of Charles E. Boring, who patented his unique design for as the Boring 12-25 (which is pictured on this piece.)
The tractor was equipped with a four-cylinder Waukesha engine with a 4 1/4" by 5 3/4" bore and stroke. For plowing, the right hand drive wheel ran in the furrow, and the left hand driver could be adjusted upward so that the tractor and plow ran level.
The 12-25 was the only model the company ever manufactured, and production ceased in 1922. There is only one known example of the tractor still in existence today.
