Historical Context
The New Castle and Shenango Valley Railroad Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania on May 3, 1887.
The line ran from New Castle to West Middlesex - a distance of just over 16 miles.
The line was leased by the New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio Railroad and was operated by the Erie Railroad.
The line was acquired by the Sharon Railway in 1900.
