Historical Context
Hale Brothers merged with Broadway Department Stores to form Broadway-Hale Stores Inc. The company, later known as Carter Hawley Hale Stores, owned the Emporium, Weinstock's and The Broadway.
There was also a smaller group of Texas based stores that were part of this consolidation – Nieman Marcus! Stanley Marcus soon thereafter became a top ranking executive of the company.
