Historical Context
The Peoples Railway Company was incorporated in Ohio on June 18, 1896 as a consolidation of the Wayne & Fifth Street Railroad and the White Line Street Railway.
The company operated 31 miles of track in Dayton and owned Fairview Park. Fairview Park was an amusement park that included attractions such as a figure-eight roller coaster, a lake with a beach and water slide (shooting chutes), a casino/theater, a miniature train ride, a swing tower, a cycling track, a baseball park (first used by the Dayton Old Soldiers), and a clubhouse that had a bowling alley.
The company was eventually controlled by the American Railways Company.
