Historical Context
The Denver and Northwestern Railway Company was incorporated in Colorado in June, 1901.
The company operated a streetcar line from Denver, northwesterly through Arvada, to the mining town of Leyden. The company as operated a branch line to Golden. All told, the company owned approximately 27 miles of track.
In 1902, the Denver and Northwestern Railway Company acquired the Denver City Tramway Company - which controlled the Denver streetcar industry with a number of suburban lines.
