The Rock Island, Stuttgart and Southern Railway Company was incorporated on January 20, 1913 under the laws of the State of Arkansas, for the purchase of a line of railway formerly the Stuttgart and Rice Belt Railroad Company, sold under foreclosure proceedings January 22, 1913.
The Rock Island, Stuttgart and Southern Railway Company was, on February 1, 1914, leased to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company for 999 years.
The line ran between Mesa and Stuttgart.
