Product Details
Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Lucky Cross Mines of Swastika, Limited dating back to the 1910's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by the Alexander & Cable Co. and measures approximately 11" (w) by 7" (h).
The vignette features a red swastika. Before the symbol was hijacked by the Nazis, it carried different meanings amongst the various Native North American tribes. To the Hopi it represented the wandering Hopi clan; to the Navajo it was one symbol for the whirling log, a sacred image representing a legend that is used in healing rituals. A brightly colored First Nations saddle featuring swastika designs is on display at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Canada.
