Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the San Francisco-Sacramento Railroad Company dating back to the 1920's. This document measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 8 1/4" (h).
This certificate's vignette features an eagle on a crag.

Historical Context
The origins of this line began with the formation of the Oakland & Antioch Railway, which was incorporated and organized in 1909 to provide a direct line between San Francisco and the valleys of Moraga, San Ramon, Ygnacio and Pacheo. The company completed a line between Bay Point and Oakland in 1913.
Meanwhile, the Oakland, Antioch and Eastern Railway was incorporated in 1911 to build a line from Bay Point to Sacramento. this company leased the Oakland & Antioch Railway and completed the line to Sacramento in 1913.
In 1920, the Oakland, Antioch and Eastern Railway was reorganized as the San Francisco-Sacramento Railroad Company.
The company was purchased by the Western Pacific Railroad in 1927.
